Victoria Pheghe, a Medirest colleague at King’s College Hospital, has been recognised for an extraordinary 50 years of service, marking a remarkable milestone in a career dedicated to supporting patients and teams across the hospital.

Victoria began her journey at King’s in March 1976, starting in Medical Records where she worked evening shifts six days a week. Over the years, she has taken on a variety of roles across the hospital, adapting to the needs of different teams and departments. In 1983, she moved to weekend working to support her family, balancing both home and work life while continuing her commitment to the hospital.

Now based in A&E as a Housekeeper, Victoria remains a valued and familiar presence, known for her caring nature, strong work ethic and reliability. Her connection to King’s extends beyond her role, with four of her five children born at the hospital, reflecting a lifetime closely tied to the place she has worked for decades.

Victoria Pheghe commented: “Working at King’s College Hospital has been a very pleasant experience for me - I have enjoyed my 50 years.

On Friday at the long service awards, it was fantastic and beautiful, I felt so honoured.

I gave 50 years to King’s and King’s gave it to back to me like a married couple!”

Kerri Miller, Head of Housekeeping for Medirest at King’s College Hospital, said: “Reaching 50 years of service is an incredible achievement and truly speaks to the kind of person Victoria is. She is a quiet, kind, and deeply dedicated member of the team who consistently leads by example. Her standards as a housekeeper are exceptional, and her work plays a vital role in the smooth day-to-day running of the hospital. We are incredibly grateful for her commitment and the positive impact she has made over so many years.”

Victoria’s milestone was recognised at a recent celebration event, where colleagues from across the hospital were recognised for their long service and dedication. Victoria was presented with a certificate, voucher, flowers and chocolates by Professor Clive Kay, Chief Executive, alongside her colleagues and loved ones.

Long service awards take place every quarter and the recent event saw 15 people acknowledged - representing an impressive 305 years of service collectively.

Jon Grima, Operations Director, Medirest said: “It was a really special event, from the music and celebrations to the families coming together, it was a truly fitting way to recognise such an incredible milestone.”
